Innovation

The majority of the world’s current development problems, notably in Sub-Saharan Africa, demand a new way of thinking if we are to find long-term solutions. In order to effectively strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities, it is essential to work closely with these communities and take an evidence-based approach to determining which issues are most pressing, which innovations are most likely to be successful, and which ones should be developed and tested. Innovations that enhance and increase the resilience of communities affected by natural and man-made stressors and shocks are a primary emphasis at SIDS. The institute encourages local innovators and creates sustainable platforms for them to sustain their innovations; we give the necessary support, including capacity development. We provide mentorship, capacity development, and other necessary support for innovators.
